Castrol India Appoints Kedar Lele As Managing Director
Lele succeeds Sandeep Sangwan, who transitions to the role of Global CMO at Castrol
(The Corner Office Journal) -- Castrol India Ltd. said it appointed Kedar Lele as its new managing director, effective 1 November.
Lele joins Castrol India after a two-decade-long career at Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (HUL), the lubricant manufacturer said in a stock exchange announcement. He last served as an executive director of HUL, responsible for sales & customer development, South Asia, it added.
Lele succeeds Sandeep Sangwan, who will assume the role of global chief marketing officer at Castrol headquarters in London from 1 November.
“His [Lele’s] vast experience in driving growth and leading large teams in complex markets makes him an outstanding choice to lead Castrol India,” the company’s Chairman Rakesh Makhija said.
The Mumbai-based company said Lele has been working closely with Sangwan since 1 September to ensure a seamless leadership transition. This period of changeover has allowed Lele to gain strategic insights into the company’s operations and foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, it noted.
“A key priority for me will be to continue to expand our portfolio coupled with effective deployment models to drive business growth,” Lele said.
Castrol India -- part of bp group -- has a 115-year presence in India and serves various sectors, including automotive, mining, machinery and wind energy, according to the statement.
The company, whose brands include Castrol CRB, Castrol GTX, Castrol Activ, operates three blending plants and its distribution network reaches over 150,000 retail outlets nationwide, it said.
