SNG & Partners Elevates Amit Aggarwal To Managing Partner

SNG & Partners appointed its Senior Partner Amit Aggarwal as managing partner and said the law firm’s founder Rajesh Narain Gupta has transitioned to the role of chairman.

Aggarwal, whose appointment is effective from today (3 April), now heads the firm’s corporate and non-contentious practice, SNG & Partners said in a statement. He has been instrumental in expanding the firm’s initial expansion to Mumbai, and later to Singapore and Doha, it added.

Gupta, who will guide the firm through all strategic decisions, said Aggarwal today plays a pivotal role in strategizing, devising and implementing the firm’s expansion plans.

“With an illustrious and impactful professional journey, he has stood out as someone whose values are aligned with the firm’s values,” Gupta said. “Not only has he handled complex and multi layered issues in the key high-stake matters handled by the firm, [but] he has also mentored other partners to take on leadership roles.”

Aggarwal said while SNG & Partners, established in 1962 by the late S.N. Gupta, is building multi-disciplinary teams, the integration will be at the core of the firm’s values.

“Along with practice area and geographical expansion, my key focus will be to enlarge the talent pool and promote merit-based growth as the DNA of the firm,” he added.

Aggarwal, who has been with SNG & Partners for upwards of two decades, also said with opportunities of client-servicing arising at global levels, the firm will continue to build strategic alliances in the global legal community to address the legal requirements of its clients.

In February, SNG & Partners launched a dedicated Japan Desk to expand its capability of providing specialized consultancy, advisory and legal services to the clients.

Aggarwal, an alumnus of Delhi University and a company secretary from the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), has extensive experience in structured finance and trade finance transactions, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, financial services, and capital markets, according to the statement.
