Swiggy Taps FMCG Veteran Anand Kripalu As Board Chairperson

Indian food delivery firm Swiggy appointed Anand Kripalu as an independent director and the chairperson of its board of directors.

“Anand is a veteran in the consumer goods industry, and his deep knowledge and perspective will be instrumental in guiding Swiggy as we continue to innovate and redefine the on-demand delivery landscape in India,” Swiggy Group Chief Executive Officer Sriharsha Majety said in a statement.

Kripalu, who has close to four decades of experience in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry, is the managing director and global CEO of EPL Ltd., (formerly Essel Propack Limited).

Prior to that, Kripalu was the managing director and CEO of India’s leading beverage alcohol company Diageo India, Swiggy said. He has also held leadership roles at Mondelez International (formerly Cadbury) and Unilever, it added.

Kripalu holds a Bachelor of Technology in Electronics from IIT, Madras, and an MBA from IIM, Calcutta, according to the statement. He completed his Advanced Management Program at Wharton Business School, it said.

Founded in 2014, Swiggy is India’s leading on-demand convenience platform and connects consumers to over 250,000 restaurant partners in hundreds of cities.
