Rane Group’s Chairman L. Ganesh will retire on 31 March, after helming the position for more around 18 years, paving the way for the group’s Vice Chairman Harish Lakshman to assume the top role.

Ganesh, who became chairman of Rane Group in November 2006, will continue to serve on the board of group’s operating entities as a non-executive director, the Indian auto components manufacturer said in a stock exchange announcement.

Ganesh will also continue as chairman and managing director of Rane Holdings Ltd., it added.

Lakshman, who is taking over as chairman of Rane Group from 1 April, will remain on the board of Rane Holdings as vice chairman and joint managing director.

The Chennai-based group said Lakshman joined ZF Rane Automotive India (formerly Rane TRW Steering Systems) as AGM – Marketing in 1998 and after holding several positions in the areas of marketing and operations, he became managing director in 2008. He was involved in the corporate management of Rane Group from 2012 and became its vice chairman in 2017, it noted.

Lakshman holds Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from BITS, Pilani, and Master’s Degree in Business from Krannert School of Management at Purdue University in the US, according to the statement.
