Exide Industries Appoints Avik Kumar Roy As MD & CEO

Exide Industries Ltd. said its board appointed Avik Kumar Roy as managing director and chief executive officer of the company following the retirement of Subir Chakraborty.

Chakraborty will cease to be the MD & CEO with effect from the close of business hours on 30 April, the Indian battery-maker said in a stock exchange announcement.

The appointment of Roy is for three years, effective 1 May. He joined Exide on 2 January 2019 as president of industrial division and has been on the company's board as whole-time director since 1 May 2021.

The company said Roy has experience of more than 34 years as an industrial business leader in various multinational organizations.

Prior to joining Exide, Roy was designated as vice president and business unit head in Siemens Ltd. He has worked in international management assignments as director-strategy in Siemens AG, Germany as well as director of Siemens Energy in Bangladesh.

Roy holds Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from Jadavpur University, Kolkata and has completed his EMBA from Asian Institute of Management, Manila, according to the statement.
