The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) expanded its global network by opening the Adelaide Chapter in Australia.

“This chapter is vital for members transitioning to Adelaide from India, as chartered accountancy in Australia expands,” ICAI President Aniket Sunil Talati said in a statement.

The Indian accounting body said Adelaide Chapter is ICAI’s 47th overseas chapter and the fourth chapter in Australia, following chapters in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

ICAI said its overseas chapters provide a platform for Indian CAs abroad, for furtherance of their professional pursuits and knowledge as well as promoting affability among ICAI members.

The overseas chapters also facilitate in bringing foreign investment to India and also assist Indian Industry by guiding them about the investment opportunities in different parts of the world, it added.

ICAI's footprint now has expanded to 81 cities across 47 countries, encompassing a network of 47 chapters, 34 representative offices worldwide, and a strong presence in India through five regional councils and 168 branches, according to the statement.

With around 8.50 lakh students and close to four lakh members, ICAI is the world’s largest professional accountancy body, it said.
